About Us

The Midwest Songwriter Circle exists purely to bring the essence of the songwriter to the forefront, free from the confines of early opening acts and cover bars and back into the spotlight, at the venues, and in front of the audiences that these artists were meant to perform. The MSC consists of some of the most current and talented artists around.

Brief History and Success
The Midwest Songwriter Circle started in Chicago, IL in the fall of 2009 as a grass roots campaign. MSC shows are done "In the Round" with multiple musicians on stage, one by one, taking turns playing songs. Just a few short months later the series was picked up by the venue Uncommon Ground in Wrigleyville (Chicago) where it sold out 2 of 2 shows. The MSC is excited to continue to gather talent and spread its message.
The Midwest Songwriter Circle will be performing their first concert in Indianapolis on February 26th, 2011 with plans to hit Nashville as well as other cities in the region. The MSC hopes to book a small midwest college tour in the near future. We are dedicated in the goal of becoming a premier organization in the industry for many years to come. More on the Midwest Songwriter Circle
The Midwest Songwriter Circle would like to change a few stereo types along the way. The first being that the songwriter scene is dead. We believe that it is very much alive and that it just as important to today's society as it always has been. We believe all art forms can be a profession as well as an expression.
All musicians selected by the MSC are professionals and by presenting ourselves at all times as such, we also hope to change some stereo types about musicians in general. We recognize and respect this profession and it's artists who have come before us and paved a way allowing us to do both what we love, and what we're good at.

We also recognize and admire other pre-existing organizations such as "The Circle", formerly known as "The New York Songwriter Circle" and other Roots Collectives across the globe that have similar initiatives and formats as our own. We look forward to the possibility of working side by side with these organizations in the future.
Last but certainly not least, we would like to change the general perception that would say that only the East and West Coasts produce quality art. The Midwest has endless and often over looked talent. With your help, we would like our chance to prove that!
